Seminarians of Religious Orders have been an important part of the Dunwoodie seminary community for years. Currently St. Joseph's Seminary has both faculty members and seminarians from various religious orders and communities including the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, Dominican Order, Idente Missionaries, Order of the Pious Schools (Piarists), and the New York Oratory of St. Philip Neri.
At St. Joseph's Seminary we welcome religious seminarians into the Discipleship and Configuration stages of formation.
Because of the nature of the formation that members of religious orders receive, the application process for members of religious orders is different. When the superiors of a religious order have identified a candidate for the priesthood, the Superior or Director of Vocations of the order will contact the Director of Seminarian Admissions and Recruitment of the seminary.
The Director of Seminarian Admissions and Recruitment will then inform the candidate of the documents he will need to present.
Following the receipt of these documents, the Director of Recruitment and Admissions and other members of the admissions team will meet with the candidate, as needed.
The candidate will be advised of the status of their application shortly thereafter.
Dunwoodie's admissions staff is always available to assist a candidate or a diocesan vocation office with any questions they may have. Feel free to contact the Director of Admissions and Recruitment, Fr. John Cush, S.T.D. at[email protected], or (631) 546-7351.
