1. Can I check a book that has put on reserve for a class?
Answer: No. These books are placed on Reserve by the professor so that they can be made available to the entire class throughout the semester.
2. Do I need a password to log-on to the computer in the reference room and circulation areas?
Answer: No. All you have to get into the computers is hit 'Enter' and you can use the computer.
3. What is a monograph?
Answer: According to the American Library Association (ALA), it is a publication of 50 or more pages, i.e., a book, concerned with a single subject and written for consecutive reading.
4. How do I renew my books online?
Answer: See the 'Renewing Items' guide on the side menu for step by step instructions.
5. How do I get a library card? (Students in the SJS program only)
Answer: Fill out the online library card application underneath the 'Patrons' side menu and submit it. You can then pick up your new cards before your next class.
6. As an alumnus do I have library privileges?
Answer: Yes. As an alumnus, you are welcome to come back and reactivate your account to borrow materials after you graduate. You are responsible for returning the borrowed materials after your loan period is complete. However, as an alumnus, you will no longer have access to electronic resources remotely due to usage restrictions put in place by the product vendors.
7. What do I do when my library account expires and needs to check out a book?
Answer: Contact a library staff member in person or via email to renew your account. If you need the books on the spot and there are no library staff available, then please either leave a handwritten message or send an email with the following information. Your Name/ Title of the Book / Complete Library Barcode. The library staff will then address your account issue as soon as possible.
