We are delighted that you will be visiting our sister campus in Huntington, NY, this August. The NCDVD is a great place to start to get to know us, and we look forward to meeting you and answering any questions you might have about Dunwoodie.
We know what we're doing, because we've been doing it since 1896!
Perhaps you didn't know that Dunwoodie extends beyond its campus in Yonkers. It is as sprawling as the NY Metro area is, with close ties to the dioceses of Brooklyn and Rockville Centre in New York, and even Bridgeport, CT, and Camden, NJ.
We are a national and international seminary, with seminarians from around the US and the world! And we are nestled between the Big Apple, the Hudson Valley, and Long Island. This means it is as easy to experience the bright lights of the big city, as it is to hike the Appalachian Trail, or surf off the the tip of Montauk.
History? We've got that at Dunwoodie. World class professors, rare books, and multiple degree programs? Those, too! And speaking of "too", we have two of every major sports team right in our backyard - just name the sport.
(Not to mention theaters, concert halls, museums, monuments...)
So welcome to New York, and welcome to the best academic, human and pastoral formation in the United States.
Welcome to Dunwoodie!
The "new" Propaedeutic Year is not so new to Dunwoodie.
Thanks to our years of experience at our other sister campus in Douglaston, NY, we are very well prepared to inaugurate the Propaedeutic Stage this Fall at Dunwoodie. Our men will occupy their own wing of the seminary, which will enable them to live, pray, study and discern quietly and comfortably apart from all distractions, in accord with the proscripts of the PPF VI.
Yet, even though they will enjoy these twelve months of preparation separate from others, they will still have access to all of our facilities - our chapels, library, acres of grounds and athletic fields, and the sports center with a pool and bowling alley. You name it, it's there at their disposal. And on those days when they can join in celebration at major Dunwoodie events, they will have the fine example of the older men, faculty and staff, who will always be there to support them.
How can we be so confident? The Director of our Propaedeutic Stage, Rev. Joseph Holcomb, has worked for many years helping young men discern their vocation, and preparing them for their priestly ministry. Stop by and meet him while you're here,
Whether or not you're joining us at our memorable outing on Wednesday, August 30, make sure to stop by our table in the exhibit hall every day. Dunwoodie will be represented by a rotating group of its first rate faculty, so if you have a question about the Propaedeutic year one day, Dogmatic Theology the next, or would like to discuss their most recently published book, we will always have an answer for you. Plus we will have a surprise for our visitors, so you'll always leave with a smile.
