Fr. David G. Monaco, CP, a native of Yonkers, professed his first vows as a Passionist in 1985 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1990. He holds an M.Div. with a Specialization in Word and Worship from The Catholic Theological Union at Chicago (1989), an S.S.L. in Biblical Studies from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome (1999), and a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from the University of Chicago (2011). He taught for 5 years at Dominican University in River Forest, IL while working on his dissertation, and 7 years at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, OH.
He is the author of a number of articles and the monograph The Sentences of the Syriac Menander published by Gorgias Press (2013), volume 7 in their series Gorgias Studies in Classical and Late Antiquity. His most recent publications are "The Choice of Matthias in Acts 1:15-26," in Acta Universitatis Carolinae Theologica (2017) and the commentary on "Haggai" in The Paulist Biblical Commentary (2018).
